Today’s Text: Psalm 125:1-5
Key Verse: Psalm 125:1 (NKJV): “Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever.”
We are too often tossed about in our minds. We suffer great shakings and perhaps needless movings in/of our hearts because, though we know the Lord, but we do not trust Him enough as the Lord, or as we should. But David, in His widest romance with nature sighted the hills around Jerusalem thought of how steadfast the hills are—especially Zion, the Jebusite fortified city, East of ancient Jerusalem, which also is known as the City of David. In the New Testament, Mount Zion is used metaphorically to refer to the heavenly Jerusalem, God's holy, eternal, unchanging and immovable city. And, he thought that this is how God’s people ought to be: steadfast and immovable.
Unfortunately, we, reason of our little faith or lack of faith, or human infirmities and immaturity, are tossed to and fro with any or every wind. But the words of this Psalm admonishes us, even in these fast changing world, during our deepest soul trials and travail, to keep our faith in earnest hold, and never permit it, or our hope, to drift. We cannot afford to be removed from our confidence in God. We must, regardless of what life gives or brings, continue to abide for ever in that grace which is the earnestness in our continuance in trust. Soon, we shall find behind our grievous doubt, we are blessed—so blessed—to hold unto a faith which is not moved. That what it feels like to be steadfast as Mount Zion which shall never be removed.
Quote for the Day: “Christ’s peace always transcends all understanding, and it always guards our hearts and minds. So you may be calm enough to be stable, steadfast and still.“
Prayer: Dear God, You are the source of all hope and the light that shines in the darkness. Fill my heart with hope, Lord, and help me trust in Your plan, even when I cannot see the way. Renew my faith and grant me the strength to persevere through the challenges I face — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
