Daily Scripture Threshing for Sunday, November 19, 2023
Today’s Text: 1 Corinthians 7:17-24
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 7:20 (NKJV): “Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called.”
There’s been an erroneous notion in postmodern Christianity that except you become a founder and leader of a church or ministry you cannot be fulfilled in life. What ever that is, and wherever it comes from, it is devilish. If their assumption were the case.,why does God give some to be apostles, prophets, pastors and teachers and not all? And, how many would be excluded from any opportunity of spiritual usefulness
The quest for position and recognition of men has made many to neglect the path of duty. It has made many in this generation to vacate their true spiritual assignment. They think little of their calling and seek something they preferred for themselves which God had no hands in. But today, God’s word charges us that our duty as Christians is to be content with our lot, and to conduct ourselves in our God-given rank and place as becoming of a child of God.
Our concern, comfort and happiness should be to glorify God to the best of our ability wherever we are placed. It is who we are to Christ that matters, not who we are before people. Therefore, it should be your earnest desire to fill your place to His praise, and if He needs you in another, He will show it to you.
Quote for the Day: “Until Christians lay aside anxious ambition, and embrace the quietness and contentment that comes with Divine calling, the work of ministry will always be done with bitter envy and strife.“
Prayer: Dear God, bless me Lord with the desire to respond and abide in Your calling. Help me to open more and more to more of you even if it’s different from what I consider as more of me. Bless me with deep encounters with You, that I might also be conduits for others to connect with this truth — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
