Staying Cool and Comfortable as the Weather Heats Up

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings from the House of Prayer Evangel Church. Home is God's great design. It is from homes that we all come to church, and everything about your home matters to us. So, as the weather starts to get warmer, we want to remind you of some valuable tips to help keep your home cool and comfortable. These simple steps will not only ensure your physical well-being but also help you stay focused on your spiritual journey.

- Air Filter(s): Regularly change your air filter(s) to ensure consistent airflow and maintain your AC system's efficiency. This simple task also enhances indoor air quality.

- Thermostat Safety: Avoid setting your thermostat excessively low, as this puts unnecessary strain on the system. Remember, an AC unit can only deliver a maximum temperature difference of 20 degrees between inside and outside.

- Thermostat as Saver: Save money on your heating and cooling bills by setting your thermostat back 7°–10°F for 8 hours a day, such as before you leave for work or before bed.

- Outdoor Unit: Keep your outdoor unit free from debris and ensure the fans are unobstructed to maintain peak performance.

- Block the Sun: Use blinds/shades/curtains to keep sunlight and heat out, especially during the hottest part of the day.

- Fans: Utilize ceiling fans and other fans throughout your home to enhance air circulation. Remember to turn them off when you leave the room, as they only make the air feel cooler.

- Appliances: Avoid using your dryer and oven during the hottest times of the day to reduce heat generation and strain on your AC system.

- Air Vents: Ensure all interior vents (including intake vents) are clean and not blocked by furniture or other objects to optimize airflow.

- EMERGENCY Concerns: If your AC system malfunctions during extreme heat conditions, please reach out to your home managers immediately. It's your right, and they'll ensure a prompt response to your urgent request.

Remember, taking care of our physical needs is also an act of stewardship and love for our bodies, which are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Stay cool, stay comfortable, and stay blessed!

May God's grace and mercy be upon you all. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,

Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
