Strength to Pull Through

Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, January 6 2024

Today’s Text: Isaiah 57:10

Key Verse: Proverbs 24:10 (ESV): “If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.”

Sometimes, we find ourselves in pursuit of some life goals, dreams and/or visions, and we think that the journey will be all smooth, easy and quick only to find it rather too long, rough and scary. So scary that we feel like turning around to return or change direction. That’s how life generation is: often like facing a flooded bridge or waterloo. And mostly, we’d like to take a break and a look at what we can immediately see ahead—the water-covered bridge or the waterloo. Then, we begin to rationalize whether it is best or not to go back where we have been; find another path beside that; or keep moving forward—slowly or as fast as we can.

As we face another year with so much excitement and anticipation, God want us to  understand that there will times when we would feel like we can’t go on. There would be some difficulty while pursuing our goals in the year. Some things will flank before us as our opportunity to park and go no farther or turn around and give up. But it will be up to you to decide each time if I would give up or go on. Today’s scripture has been sent to help us press on when difficulties come, and we are tempted to quit.

Always remember this challenge even when you feel like something is not turning out right. The waterloo may be shorter than it looks. Be determined to never quit! God uses our strength of determination to get us further than our gifts or talents. So, even if you feel you lacking in talent, be resolved not to give up. What you need to win in life is more than talents. The scripture doesn’t say: if you give up, your talent or support system or strategy was small. You may lack all these, but you’d need all the strength.

Quote for the Day: “Everyone has enough strength equal to their task if they are positive, patient, and persistent. People only fail when they give up their strength." — Simon Olatunji

Prayer: Dear Lord and Father, I thank You for this timely encouragement. I know that this year will have its challenges, but I am determined to press on following Your will, and trusting in Your strength and power. By Your grace, I will go the distance and never quit — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
