Strong for Others

Daily Scripture Threshing for Thursday, October 19, 2023

Today’s Text: Romans 15:1-7

Key Verse: Romans 15:1 (KJV): “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

We sometimes take the feelings, needs and happiness of people around us for granted; but God really cares about how we treat those around us. Let’s hush a little bit and see what this text has to say to us. Each of us is given the responsibility to be strong for our neighbors for their own sake or good in ways that build them up. Unfortunately, like commercial advertisers, we all hide underneath our self interest skins when expressing concerns for the welfare and care of others.

God understands that we all have our issues and are bombarded on different sides; but the happiness we all seek, the strength we desire, the attention we deserve personal and the gracefulness of fellowship must be kept mutual for the benefit of all. Paul the apostle tells us that under God, we all owe the debt of being concerned about each other to one another.

Our Lord was touched by the feelings of our infirmities. Needs of others must touch us. God places us in places and in lives. He entrusts us with health, money, time, and resources for the benefit of our age and generation. Your obligation is not just to yourself and family. You are responsible first to God as a steward of His blessings; and then to others, as a living conduit and tributary of those blessing.

Quote for the Day: “If you are tired or weary of doing good; remember that our Lord was tired at Gethsemane. He was tired when He bore the cross. He was thirsty on the cross. But He remained strong to bear our burdens.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am asking that you will make me a source of strength, healing and joy to others this day and every day of my life — in Jesus’ name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
