Take a Leap of Faith

Updated: Mar 3, 2024

Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, March 4, 2024

Today’s Text: Matthew 14:22-33

Key Verse: Matthew 14:29 (CSB): "He said, “Come.” And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus."

Today’s text offers us great spiritual lesson from Peter's leap of faith by stepping out of his troubled boat and walking on water. In the same way, Jesus is calling us to take a leap of faith, to step out of our comfort zones and trust in Him. Like Peter, we feel fear and doubt, but Jesus encourages us to keep our eyes fixed on Him. As we take that leap, we can trust that Jesus will be our rock, our savior, and our guide. May we have the courage to take that first step and trust in Jesus' power and love.

We should let this example inspire you to take a leap of faith and trust in Jesus as we begin this month. In Luke 17:5-6, the apostle prayed the Lord to "'increase our faith.' So the Lord said, 'If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,' and it would obey you.'" Let us trust in God's power and presence: God is with us and has the power to help us overcome challenges.

Leaping by faith involves taking risks and stepping out in faith.

Taking a leap of faith calls for us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus. Peter's situation teaches us that when we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, we can overcome fear and doubt. Our faith grows through experience. Peter's faith grew as he took that first step and walked on water. Our faith grows as we take steps of faith and experience God's presence and power. And, never be afraid to ask for help. Peter cried out to Jesus for help when he began to sink, and we can do the same when we feel overwhelmed.

Quote for the Day: “When the unknown calls, courage answers. Take the step, trust the journey, and discover the unseen shores of possibility." (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, please give me the courage to take the leap of faith, to step out of my comfort zone and trust in your plan. Help me to let go of fear and doubt, and to confidently walk towards the unknown, knowing that you are always with me. Guide me on this journey, and may my faith be strengthened with each step I take — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
