Today’s Text: John 2:1-11
Key Verse: John 2:10 (NKJV): “And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!””
Three years ago, I stumbled on an article on the COVID-19 in which a so called expert posited that the worst is yet to come despite what the world had already seen (hospitalizations, deaths, emergency department visits, and vaccinations). And, I remember how strongly I hoped he was wrong—and yes, praise God, he was! We have always been manipulated by such negativity and assumption. And we are easily derailed by such pessimism so much that we can no longer listen to the real expert, who is both Creator and Master of the universe. He’s name is Jesus—He wants us to know that regardless of how our situations look now, the best is yet to come.
The occasion at Cana of Galilee teaches us that despite all possible indicators—maps, charts, and data—God wants us to trust Him to take full charge of our lives. I know that when I was young I look ahead to growing up, and now that I’m older, I sometimes wished to be young again. But when as I grow in my understanding of God, I am more confident, today than ever that the best is yet to come! 2 Corinthians 3:18 says, “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.” As long as Jesus is in our feast , it can never go sour.
I know that He sometimes comes through in the eleventh hour, perhaps because of His sense of humor or His Sovereignty, or probably both, but at Cana of Galilee and in our daily lives, He always reserves the best for last. And, brethren, our best life doesn’t come from trying harder, nor is it a result of intelligence and efforts. Instead, it is from God. Let us learn to allow our faith in whatever He tells us to do to soar to new heights, and our best life will unfold as He transforms us from glory to glory.
Quote for the Day: God’s timing is rarely our timing, but He always shows up right when we need Him,.
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I praise You for all You have done in the past. I look forward with thankfulness for all You will do in the future. And I thank You for today and all Your blessings. I have confidence that as long as I walk with You, and trust in You, the best is always in view — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
