Daily Scripture Threshing for Monday, March 23, 2020
Today’s Text: Isaiah 55:1-13
Key Verse: Isaiah 55:7 (NLT): ”Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the LORD that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.”
Our world is in that moment when we need God. And good news is: God is more willing to graciously offer pardon, and peace than we are willing to receive. However, we are like that young employee who was found guilty of misappropriation and without a doubt would lose his position and face legal action; but instead of pressing changes, his boss asked him a surprising question: “If I keep you in your present position, can I trust you in the future?”
His boss had made exact mistake in the past and received mercy. Whereas God never sinned, He knows that we are bunch of screw-ups. We have all made mistakes. We have all fallen far short of whom He intended us to be. And though we deserve the greatest punishment, God is eager and ready to offer His mercy and grace if we are ready to receive it. Though we have wandered far away from Him, He multiplies pardon and abounds in mercy towards us.
Quote for the Day: "Sinners maintains wicked reputation before God because of all manners of sinful devices and unwholesome purposes of their hearts.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the cross that brings such an estranged sinner like me closer to Your heart of love again, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
