Daily Scripture Threshing for Wednesday, March 4, 2020
Today’s Text: 1 Thessalonians 5:12-22
Key Verse: 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (KJV): ”Pray without ceasing.”
Almost gone were the days when brethren prayed earnestly, fervently, regular and privately; when each man had a private spot in the thicket where he would pour out his heart to God. Over time the paths to these places became well worn. As a result, if one believer began to neglect prayer, it was soon apparent to the others that they would kindly remind the negligent one, "Brother, the grass grows on your path."
Paul, in his closing exhortation to Thessalonians believers places premium upon the duty of constant prayer. Believers are to cultivated a constant spirit of supplication as a mark of our constant dependence on the Lord. Prayer should never be emergent, rather it should be an attitude interspacing all we do. Watch out folks, the grass grows on your prayer paths already! Always set your heart towards the throne of grace in covert or overt praying. Never give up the praying ground till all the weeds are dead.
Quote for the Day: "Evidently, praying without ceasing is the believers’ indisputable secret to unbroken joy.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, may I never cease from trusting you in every moment of my life, in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, PhD
