The Portrait of True Nobility

Daily Scripture Threshing for Friday, May 5, 2023

Today’s Text: Proverbs 31:10-27

Key Verses: Proverbs 31:11 (KJV): The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil."

Costly treasures are not everywhere to be found. They are no commonplace. When I was a little boy, I watched my mother keep special vessels and ornaments out of the reach of all. Such is the blessing of a noble woman. She is cherished and protected. I dedicate this meditation to my wife, whose birthday was yesterday, and whom I reckon a most perfectly fitting example of a human ornament.

Today’s text, and the living example she sets challenge modern ladies to grow an uncommon desire to be a different joy than all that earth affords through character development. The mother of King Lamuel, the wisdom writer has been suggested the writer of this piece. She wanted her son’s bride to be a rare and beautiful soul altogether.

However, each lady can look inward: If you are not what you wish your son's wife should be; you have a major change to make of yourself. King Lemuel’s mom knew the kind of woman that would make her son happy, and she was determined to instil the knowledge into the heart of her son. So that he, and every man of all ages and generations will naturally be disposed to love born out of virtues rather than beauty. After all, only virtuous wives become virtuous mothers of nations; and only they lead our future kings to the source of every good. Every wife man safely trusts the future into such godly nobility.

Quote for the Day: “True nobility eschews odious gains; but out of hard works, it chooses, gains, and preserves a good name.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to shape the right conduct that positions me for the example and nobility. Teach me to engage in conduct that harmonizes with my calling. O teach to be a man of excellent conduct — in Jesus Christ's name. Amen.

With all my love and prayers,
