Daily Scripture Threshing for Saturday, June 18, 2022
Today’s Text: Matthew 11:25-30
Key Verse: Matthew 11:29 (ESV): “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart.”

Our Lord’s invitation to discipleship is very clear. We are so blessed that we have a high priest and author of faith who uses duplicity and deceit to draft us into following Him. He let us know what following Him required. We must give up our yokes to take up His own. He understands that we come weary and burdened. He knows just what we need — rest — and He promised to give us rest. The life of Jesus Christ is likened to a yoke upon the natural man. By all standards, the canal mind does not like to learn from Christ. He is too gentle and humble in heart. We’d rather follow a revolutionary — a rascal. and you will find rest for your souls. But Jesus says why chose a difficult path when my own yoke is easy and my burden is light?! He has one better life to give us: And that is total freedom and rest from all our burdens of sin and the Law. All He requires from each man is: “Follow!” He lived a life dedicated to this gracious invitation. He laid down His for the same reason, and has also given us the ministry to beseech all people to give up their burdens and yokes, come to Him, and take up the better yoke.
Quote for the Day: “Life in the tor of Jesus does not promise to be battle free; but it promises rest." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I give all my worries over to you. Please calm the restlessness my mind; still all my thoughts of perplexities, and give me Your rest indeed — in Jesus’ name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
