Today’s Text: Luke 2:4-7
Key Verse: Luke 2:7 (NASB): “And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Perhaps, there is much more to learn from this Christmas story than we all ever realized. What lessons can we possibly take from the overbooked guys who had no room for the glorious appearance of God in the form of the greatest man in history. Just what is the problem with being successful in what you do and you feel so overwhelmed to have a room for God? Do we not get so easily overbooked the same way as the innkeeper? Friends, those who have no place for God lose their place in destiny. Otherwise, why is there no actual mention of the innkeeper in the story? Why does he become only an "assumed” character? Someone who had the most glorious opportunity to host the greatest force of creation! Why is it that all his world will really know about him is that there was no room in his inn for the savior of all mankind?
The innkeeper lays down for us a clear example of how not to fill up our lives with things: responsibilities, possessions, activities, and other affairs of life, and have "no room" left for God. Let us get clear and sincere: life happens. We get overwhelmed. We get busy and successful. And, sometimes, in-over-our-heads, and if care is not taken, things, people, jobs, family, business and, sometimes religion help us fill up our “inns” (or lives) so quickly that, before we realize, there is no room at all for Jesus. Life in the postmodern times jolts us into the feeling that our life is too full, when indeed it is empty. Nothing can ever fill our lives with true meaning, joy and purpose than the One we fail to give room. He is the giver of life in its true abundance; the One who fills our emptiness. Why not make room for Jesus this Christmas?! Why not give him the entire space of your heart?!
Quote for the Day: “Life in the postmodern times jolts us into the feeling that our life is too full, when indeed it is empty.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear Lord, I choose now to turn from my sins-clogged life, my self-centeredness, and every part of my life that does not give room for you or please you. I choose you over all else. And, I give myself to you — in Jesus Christ name. Amen.
With all my Love and Prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
