Through Jesus Alone

Today’s Scripture Threshing for Sundat, March 17, 2019

Today’s Text: Acts 13:28-41

Key Verse: Acts 13:38–39 (KJV): ”Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.”

Since the day Paul preached in Antioch of Pisidia till now, so many things have changed in our world — methods of communication, transmission of information, science and technology, moral processes and justice systems — so much changes in the doctrinal framework of the Church; but the message of the gospel remains the same. Forgiveness of sin and justification could be found in no other name except Jesus Christ.

It is in the same light as Jesus’ words in John 8:12: “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life” that we receive the witness of the apostles. Outside Jesus, or apart from Him, our world grope and loom in darkness. Wether this is preached in an ancient Jewish synagogue, or in the gentiles synagogues of Cyprus, or on our pluralistic postmodern platforms, the truth may never be altered. It is through Jesus Christ alone that forgiveness of sins may be found. By him alone all that believe on him alone are declared innocent in the court of God's judgment.

This is the gospel: Jesus took the sins of the world upon Himself when he was crucified. And by this, he achieved sole propitiation for all, so that anyone who believes in Him is assured, not just of sins’ forgiveness; but that, they have already been punished in Christ, and there’s no provision for double jeopardy. Therefore, in Him, alone, all who appropriate His finished work of salvation, passed from judgement to life.

Quote for the Day: “Through Jesus alone means there’s no other system of religion, charitable works, moral and educational reform, or humanistic efforts wherewith salvation is achievable.” (Simon Olatunji)

Prayer: Dear LORD, thank you for taking my place to give me a place in your Kingdom. Help me Lord to live for you and shine your saving light. Amen.

With all my Love and Prayer,
