Today’s Text: Psalm 121:1-8
Key Verse: Psalm 121:1 (ESV): "I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come?"
Since since the fall of Adam or at least since the year 2020, our world has continued to experience different levels of stress: from threats of global pandemic to the spread of wars and rumors of wars. financial markets under immense decline, political turmoil, social upheaval, growing fear for the future, and terrible persecution of Christians.
These realities set the whole world in to motions looking for help in all the wrong places. We think help comes from global strategies of some sorts; we look place our trust in political liars and still hope for a change. One moment, the sky brightens and the next comes darkness again. The common question is: where can we find help?
The Psalmist in his 121st song has that answer for us by personal example. He wants us to know that to find true help, we have to look nowhere else any further. The place to look is up to God. Looking unto God helps us look at our problems in the light of who God is. When you see the great God, and His majesty, then all our problems are nothing.
And this is a personal thing, friend. That's why David said, “My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.” As a pastor, and Bible teacher, I have learnt that no matter how much we say or preach, accepting that the LORD is above all is a personal thing. Not many believers are able to come to term with God's omnipotence; and that He is able to bring His will to pass. But except we orient our worship to the point that the LORD is believed to be sovereign indeed, we will always make up molehills of our issues and look up to them instead of God.
Quote for the Day: "True help comes from above, not from abroad. Men who look up to God see problems in the light of His majesty. They trust in His sovereignty, and turn molehills into mere shadows of His greatness." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you in times of trouble and uncertainty, seeking your guidance and strength. Help us to look up to you and trust in your sovereignty over all things. May we find comfort in your majesty and peace in your presence. And, may our hearts be filled with faith and our minds be at peace, knowing that you are always with us — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
