Today’s Text: Jeremiah 4:1-8
Key Verse: Jeremiah 4:1 (NLT): "O Israel,” says the Lord, “if you wanted to return to me, you could. You could throw away your detestable idols and stray away no more.""
Our battles are first won or lost in the secret places of our hearts, then our will, then in worship experiences before they are made msnifest as victories in full view of the world. The text begore us today makes it clear that victory over our struggles with detectable things begins from the choices we make: first, it starts with our heart desire and will. It is after these that the Spirit of God takes hold of us and compels us to desire God enough and then helps us to fight our battles. God wants us to know that except we desire Him enough to give up our detestable idols, we'd lose our life's battles every time.
Is this a Old Testament forecast of the New Testament walk ye therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made you free? This means that winning or losing life's battle is no longer up to God. He already finished His part snd settled it all long ago. You could then take it up at once, or push it on. If you wanted to be free you could. God already paved the way to victory, but taking it up now depend on me, not God. But we hate to yield simple things. We always wait until life's battles get difficult before we then start putting God to the test: running from mountains to valleys. This is why ut is not working.
We must first get life's issues settled between God and us first. It takes place in the secret places of our choices. Then we can go ahead with certainty that the battle is won. Anyone who looses it there will loose it everywhere. For this is what the Lord says, if you wanted to return to me, you could. You could throw away your detestable idols and stray away no more. If you want to defeat the spirit behind those sickness, darkness, calamity, failure, disaster, and barrenness, you must seek God first. But this is a choice; it is not by force.
Action Step: Examine your life and identifewfy any thing or habits that take precedence over God. Actively seek God through prayer. Commit to living a life that is pleasing to God.
Quote for the Day: "God never fails His part in redemption. Qw can'tever be jolted by the devil if we are deliberate about our part." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, I come to You today with a humble heart. I acknowledge that I have strayed from Your path and allowed idols to take hold in my life. I have been vareless to allow the enemy's rampage aucceed over me. O Lord, please guide me back to You and help me to live the life of victory which you have called me to live — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
