Today’s Text: Acts 3:1-10
Key Verse: Acts 3:6 (NIV): "Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.”"
Today's Christians can draw several messages from Apostle Peter's encounter with the lame beggar. We can learn how to trust in God's power. It's a more powerful and glorious possession of/in our lives. God is all-powerful and able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think. We must never forget to use, or shy away from using what we have. Peter didn't have silver or gold, but he offered his faith and obedience. For us, it might be our talents, skills, and resources to serve others and glorify God.
We are to afraid to step out in faith. Peter took a risk by speaking to the lame beggar and commanding him to rise up and walk. We too are called to step out in faith and take risks for the kingdom of God. This might mean sharing the gospel with a friend or stranger, starting a new ministry, or giving generously to support God's work. Or it might be showing compassion. Peter's response to the lame beggar was one of compassion and empathy. As Christians, we are called to show compassion and care for those in need (Matthew 25:31-46). We can demonstrate compassion through acts of kindness, listening, and serving others.
And, of course, we are called to declare the good news. The healing of the lame beggar was an opportunity to declare the good news of Jesus Christ and the resurrection. Giving w g at we have opens up the opportunity to share the gospel message with those around us (Romans 10:13-15), telling them about God's love, forgiveness, and salvation through Jesus Christ.
Quote for the Day: “As we embrace the power of faith, unleash the potential within our grasp, step boldly into the unknown, embody compassion's gentle touch, and proclaim the transformative story of God's redemption, we weave a tapestry of purpose, and our souls are forever transformed by the divine brushstrokes of grace." (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Dear God, I come before you with grateful heart, thanking you for your love and guidance. I ask that you continue to guide me and use me for your purpose. Help me to trust in your power, use what I have to serve others, step out in faith, show compassion, and declare the good news of Jesus Christ. May my life be a reflection of your love and grace — in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
Rev Simon Wale Olatunji, Ph.D.
