When God Favors You

Today's Text: Psalm 5:12

Key Verse: Psalm 5:12 (ESV): "For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield."

Last week Friday, we neditated on Favor as with a shield. We can be grateful that God is shedding more light on the theme of favor. When God favors a man, doors of opportunity swing open, and blessings overflow like a mighty river. His paths are illuminated with divine guidance, and his steps are ordered with precision. The favor of God brings promotion, increases influence, and attracts abundance, causing him to stand out in all he does. Favor silences critics, confounds enemies, and commands respect. When God's favor is upon your life, the hand of God rests upon you, empowering you to achieve great things with little efforts. With God's favor, the impossible becomes possible, and the ordinary becomes extraordinary, as His blessing transforms every aspect of life.

Today’s text describes God's favor as a shield that covers and protects us. As followers of Christ, we are righteous in God's sight, and He blesses us with His favor, which forms favor a tangible reality that surrounds us like a shield. It protects and defends us from harm, like a shield that guards people from danger. God's favor is like a garment: it clothes us with righteousness, dignity, and honor, like a beautiful garment that adorns us. People who would ordinary hold you in disdain and scorn will look on you and find you shrouded by great delight. That's God's favor at work there. It opens doors, provides opportunities, and brings success. It protects us from harm, shields us from danger, and keeps us safe.

Favor is available to you in every day and way as you go through life. Not only should we ask for it, seek it, and trust God for it. We must position ourselves for it. To do this, we must cultivate a heart of humility, gratitude, and obedience. We must recognize that God's favor is a gift that flows from His goodness and mercy. So we are not pursuing favor; we're pursuing God. We seek to honor God in all we do, seeking a deepening relationship with Him through prayer, worship, and studying His Word. And, finally, we must trust in God's sovereignty, timing, and goodness.

Action Steps: Ask God to cover you with His favor as with a shield. Seek God's favor in every area of your life. Trust in God's favor, even when you don't see it. Believe that God's favor is available to you, no matter what challenges you face.

Quote for the Day: "God's favor is like a shield that covers us, protects us, and keeps us safe. It is the key to unlocking success, prosperity, and happiness in our lives." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)

Let Us Pray: Dear Heavenly Father, I come before You today, asking for Your favor to cover me like a shield. I seek Your favor in every area of my life, and I trust in Your goodness and mercy. I believe that Your favor is available to me, no matter what challenges I face. Thank You for Your love and favor — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
