Our Text: Acts 1:6-11
Key Verses: Acts 1:11 (KJV ): “Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
In this singular devotional series, there are several important lessons from the angelic appearance in the text. The key lesson being that the disciples were focusing on wrong things. They were focusing on the sky, which is physical as against spiritual; on the departure, which is temporary as against His return which is a happier and permanent blessing; on Jesus as being out of sight, as against the glorious reality that He is even more present and always with them.
Like them, we too are often, or sometimes, too awestruck that we focus on minor rather than major. But today, God wants us to change our focus to a kingdom focus rather than material focus. Let us look away from all our distractions. There is no time for gazing ... the time is short. John 4:35 admonishes us to “Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.”
Quote for the Day: “There is no time to stand gazing, otherwise, we’d never stop fighting. Its time to get on the move, seize the moments and serve our coming King, Lord and Savior.” (Simon Olatunji)
Prayer: Lord Jesus, help me to shun all distractions and pursue your course everyday and moment, in Jesus name. Amen.
With all my love and prayer,
