Today’s Texts: Psalm 138:1-8
Key Verse: Psalm 138:8 (ESV): "The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands."
Do you ever feel like you're walking through a dark valley, unsure of what lies ahead? Do you ever wonder if God still loves you, or if He has forgotten about you? Moments like this must occur in a life one time or the other; but we must remember that God's love is not a fleeting feeling. It is a steadfast and enduring reality. He loves you not because of what you've done, but because of who He is. His love is a constant, a north star that guides you through life's uncertainties.
Love of God is not determined by what He physically does to fix us or surprise us, or our world. There may not always be evidence of His workings. Yet His love is unquestionable. David, in this Psalm was still hoping that the Lord will perfect that which concerns him; yet He was committed to an unwavering trust in God's enduring love. He was confident that the Lord will complete what he has begun. Yes, friends, God does not begin to interpose in our behalf, and then abandon us. His love wraps us always. He does not promise to save, and then fail to fulfill it. He will not take us on, and then cast me off. He always completes whatever he begins.
Just as a parent wraps his arms around his child, holding him close and secure, so does God wrap His love around us even when we couldn’t see or feel it. David here teaches us by experience: he has known how God exalted him by taking him through humiliation, and now has confident hopes concerning the future. He therefore is a qualified voice to tell us that God holds us close, whispering words of reassurance in our ears: "You are mine, beloved. I will fulfill my purpose for you; and my love for you endures forever."
Quote for the Day: "God's love is not a temporary feeling. It's not limited to or by moment of joy or sorrow. It is a permanent state of being under God's banner." (Simon Olatunji #quotablequote)
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your steadfast love that endures forever. Wrap your arms around me, holding me close and secure. Reassure me of your love, and guide me through the uncertainties of life — in Jesus's most glorious name. Amen.
With all my love and prayers,
